Jon Caspi has been a longstanding figure in the indie, alternative and punk scenes. In the late 80’s he fronted the new wave band Bouncing Off Bob. In 2005, Jon Caspi made his return to live music with the release of three solo albums before revisiting his punk and American anthem roots with his band Jon Caspi & The First Gun. The band’s second album was produced by the legendary punk band The Bouncing Souls’ guitarist, Pete Steinkopf. In 2017, Dez Cadena (Black Flag/Misfits) became a member of the band.

A band’s favorite achievement came off the sixth album, which spawned the fan favorite, Raise ‘Em High!, a barroom “Hooligan” sing-along. This song has far and away become his most recognized and is now a cult hit in his home state of New Jersey. Legendary WFMU DJ, Jonesey, has selected this tune as his official 2pm toast song which has increased the band’s fanbase and is at the center of a large Facebook group where folks post selfies of themselves toasting each other to the song. The new momentum behind the song led the band to decide to release a new version of it featuring NYC legend Jesse Malin.
